Happy Sweet 16, Maile!
Guest Blogger: Mom
I said last year that it was the first year I didn't plan a party. Technically, I still didn't plan a party this year. It all started with a surprise back in December for the early birthday present reveal - coveted Taylor Swift tickets. We had gotten the tickets in October, and the original plan was to wait until Maile's 16th birthday to give the tickets. However, Calleigh and Lola knew about the tickets and were keeping it a secret. We didn't want them to have to keep it secret for so long, as they would all love to look forward to the concert together. So, we had a "faux" 16th surprise in December to reveal that they are taking a trip out of town to see Taylor this summer!
At the age of 16, we love our chats with you, our rides in the car together (since those days are numbered now that you passed your driver's license test), your laughter, and the way you care so much about others. We appreciate the times you spend with your sister, especially playing Mario, as she looks up to you so very much.
We no longer have to shield you from all the bad language and inappropriate content, so you are able to watch more movies and shows with us. 😁You still love to dance and are ever inspired by dance conventions. You also still love your ice cream, boba, sushi, and steak. We are amazed by your writing, your hard work, and grades in school. We sense another published book coming soon!
We are so proud of you and the human you are. You've made some tough decisions in the past year, always rooted in what you believe is the right thing to do, not just following the easy, popular decision. Keep following your gut, as your instincts are spot on.
We're looking forward to seeing what junior year holds with Leadership 2, Link Crew, Theatre, Mav TV, Dance Team, and Studio Team. And, of course, we can't wait for that family trip to Europe! Looking forward to as much time with you as we can get.
Love you,
Mom and Dad
