Happy 3rd birthday, Maile!

Dear Maile,
Happy 3rd birthday, sweet girl! We know this blog is your electronic scrapbook, so we hope you’ll look back fondly at this entry, many years from now. You’ll get a glimpse into the type of person you have become at three years of age. It has been our absolute pleasure getting to know you and growing with you. Here are just a few of the things that make you who you are. We love you!!

You are a child who . . .
. . . learns by observing.
. . . hit the maximum number of library check-outs (100), while knowing every single book in the list.
. . . still sees books as comfort and can spend hours "reading" to yourself in bed.
. . . adjusts the stickers as they are placed in the sticker book to line up perfectly with the outlines.
. . . loves going to preschool with Teacher Trudi and your friends.
. . . wants to be surrounded by friends and asks daily about which friends you will be seeing.
. . . likes to make new friends by walking up to strangers and hugging them.
. . . seems to remember absolutely everything - even some of the smallest details from over a year ago.
. . . asks lots of questions and really wants to understand the answers (ex. Is Canada part of the United States?)
. . . knows the names of all of your friends' parents.
. . . lines up your shoes perfectly when taking them off, after stepping inside the house.
. . . is willing to try places without Mom and Dad, but really prefers to have one of them present.
. . . has become more daring when it comes to jumping.
. . . tells us if you have broken a rule (like getting out of your bed to get another book), and then generally never breaks the rule again.
. . . will sit quietly to have your toenails painted or trimmed.
. . . wants to go on vacation every single week.
. . . loves to eat edamame, noodles (no cheese!), rice and meat.
. . . always asks if the food has dairy in it (which you have no interest in eating).
. . . constantly needs a snack.
. . . often asks to go to a restaurant (and goes much too often).
. . . loves to bake with your mom, at least once a week.
. . . loves puzzles, workbooks, games, calendar - learning, in general.
. . . continues to change our world for the better.

Happy 3rd birthday, Maile!
With love,
Mommy and Daddy
