Another BBQ

We're pretty sure this is only the second time in our ten-plus years together that we've stayed home over Memorial Day weekend. The first time was when we were very pregnant and gave birth to Maile the Tuesday after Memorial Day. We're actually glad we made the choice to stay home this year. The weather has been amazing! Most of our friends stayed home, too, so we had to have another BBQ.

Here are a few pics:

The first pic is of Maile getting cozy with Trent because he had a cookie that he had so generously decided to share with her. Correction - This is Maile getting cozy with Trent after the first piece of cookie he had given her was all gone. When he told her it was all gone, she didn't miss a beat and said, "Get some more!"

On the far left, you can see that Sophia is eyeing the scene. She quickly figures out why Maile is so interested in Trent and decides to move in on the cookie man, too.

Maile calls Sophia G. "the other Sophia" because she doesn't get to see her as often as Sophia P. It was so nice to see her and her parents, Ian and Sara. She's growing fast! This picture doesn't show it, but the playroom was pretty much chaos with children and grown-ups during this scene. Sophia seems to keep her cool at all times.

And, here is Jacob!! Trent and Laila are raising such a happy little boy. He looks just like his daddy and held his own with the four big girls at the bbq.

I missed so many cute moments during the bbq, and I just caught the tail-end of this one. Maile and Sophia ran off into Maile's room. With a little help from Sophia's daddy, the girls decided to take a "nap" together. When I first came in they were both lying down, pretending to sleep. When the camera started rolling, Maile suddenly had some energy.

Although we're missing a pic of Dylan, a picture just wouldn't do that girl justice! We need to get some video of her, so she can show you all her impressive math and letter/sounds kills. The girl is a genius at only 2.5 years old!!
